英語で質疑応答の表現
日本語話者にとって「質疑応答」は最難関でしょう。プレゼン自体を何とかこなせても、なかなか聞き取りや台本なしで英語で答えるのはやはり難しいです。覚える表現が多くはなりますが、それでもパターンはあるので練習が必要です。「英語が聞き取れないから聞き返す」「やんわりと質問を避ける」などの表現も覚えておくと、完全フリーズしてしまうリスクは避けられるので安心です。
質問に回答する際の表現
質問に対してひとこと
- Thank you for your question.
- Thank you for giving me your opinion.
- It’s a very insightful question. I am happy to answer it.
- That’s a very good point.
- I’m glad you raised that point.
- That is a very good question. I had not thought of that before.
答える際のひとこと
- I’d like to answer that question.

(~に関してもっと説明して頂けませんか?と問われた際)

質問に答えられない(あとでお願いしますの時)

いろいろな理由で答えられない際の表現例
- I’m afraid I cannot answer. The data are not available yet.
- Unfortunately we have no results for that.
- We didn’t investigate that. That is not our field.
- I haven’t studied that in detail.
- The question you asked me is hard to answer right now. It would surely require further research.
- I can’t answer that question since I’m still working on it.
- I’m sorry, but that is outside the area of our study.
